  cis-[PtRL2(SnMe3)]. When the latter complex (R = CHCH2) reacts with X2 or MeX further oxidative addition occurs exclusively at the platinum centre. Aromatic isonitriles (R′NC)co-ordinate to the platinum and give insertion products trans-[PtC(CHCH2)= NR′}ClL2] on heating or carbene complexes with NBunH2. The alkynyl trans-[Pt(CCPh)ClL2] also forms 1 :1 adducts with R′NC and carbene complexes therefrom, but no insertion

  The reactions of trimethyltin hydride and dimethyltin dihydride with (CH₃)₃SiCF=CF₂ and (CH₃)₂Si(CF=CF₂)₂ respectively have been investigated. Under thermal conditions, reaction led to organotin fluorides and fluorovinyl-silanes. However, under ultraviolet irradiation at 25°, addition products were isolated of which (CH₃)₃SiCFHCF₂Sn(CH₃)₃ and (CH₃)₃SiCF[Sn(CH₃)₃]CF₂H were fully characterized. Evidence is presented which shows that these addition products are formed by a free radical process and that their decomposition to organotin fluorides and fluorovinyl-silanes proceeds via a β-fluorine elimination. Spectroscopic data are presented for a number of new organo-silanes.

  The one-pot reaction of the CFC replacement 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane (CF 3 CFH 2 , HFC-134a) with 2 equiv. of butyllithium in diethyl ether at -78 °C followed by the addition of main-group or transition-metal halides results in good yields of the corresponding metal–perfluorovinyl compounds of high purity.
