Abstract Tricarbonyliron complexes of 7-methylenecycloheptatriene and some 8-substituted derivatives (R 1 R 2 C=C 7 H 6 ; R 1 = H; R 2 = H, OMe, p -tolyl and Ph) form 1,8 addition products with tetracyanoethylene. The phenyl and p -tolyl derivatives undergo initial 1,3-addition followed by isomerization to the 1,8-adducts. The diphenyl derivative (R 1 = R 2 = Ph) undergoes 1,3-addition but does not
