The addition of two moles of thiol to a unique selenium-transfer reagent, bis azole selenide 4, results in very good isolated yields of dithioselenides (RS-Se-SR).

The reaction of bis allylselenide7with N-chlorobenzotriazole affords the firstseleniumtransfer reagent5as an analog to SeX2. The formation of this product followed by 77Se NMR gives strong evidence for the intermediacy of the first recorded alkyl selenurane9as well as a selenonium ion10.
