Arylformates are efficient carbonmonoxide sources in palladium-catalyzed esterification of aryl halides. The carbonylation readily proceeds at ambient pressure without the use of externalcarbonmonoxide to afford the corresponding esters in high yields.
Ligand-Controlled Chemoselective C(acyl)–O Bond vs C(aryl)–C Bond Activation of Aromatic Esters in Nickel Catalyzed C(sp2)–C(sp3) Cross-Couplings
converted into the alkylated arenes and ketone products, respectively. The utility of this newly developed protocol was demonstrated by its wide substrate scope, broad functional group tolerance and application in the synthesis of keyintermediates for the synthesis of bioactive compounds. DFT studies on the oxidative addition step helped rationalizing this intriguing reaction chemoselectivity: whereas

aromaticity criterion to evaluate the antifungal activity of two series of indol-4-ones. A linear regression analysis of NICS and antifungal activity showed that both tested variables were significantly related (p < 0.05); when aromaticity increased, the antifungal activity decreased for series I and increased for series II. To verify the validity of the obtained equations, a new set of 44 benzofuran-4-ones
Nickel-Catalyzed C–CN Bond Formation via Decarbonylative Cyanation of Esters, Amides, and Intramolecular Recombination Fragment Coupling of Acyl Cyanides
An efficientnickel-catalyzed decarbonylative cyanation reaction which allows the direct functional-group interconversion of readily available esters into the corresponding nitriles was developed. This reaction successfully offers access to structurally diverse nitriles with high efficiency and excellent functional-group tolerance and provides a good alternative to classical synthetic pathways from

palladium-catalyzed carbonylation of aryl, alkenyl, and allyl halides with phenyl formate is reported. This procedure does not use carbon monoxide and affords one-carbon-elongated carboxylic acid phenyl esters in excellent yields. The reaction proceeds smoothly under mild conditions and tolerates a wide range of functional groups including aldehyde, ether, ketone, ester, and cyano groups. Furthermore, a variety
