The chloro-bridged one-dimensional NiII–[NiIV mixed-valence complex with 3, 7-diazanonane-1,9-diamine (L),[NiIIL][NiIVCl2] (BF4)4, was prepared by the disproportionation reaction of the NiIII complex, [NiIIICl2L]Cl, using (CH3OCH3)(HBF4) as a solvent and reactant. The authenticity was evidenced by the X-ray photoelectron spectra, electronic spectrum, and electrical conductivity.
