Oxidation of vinylpentamethyldisilane by m-chloroperbenzoic acid (MCPBA) yields 1-(α,β-epoxyethyl)-1,1,2,2,2-pentamethyldisilane as major product. Conversely, the oxidation of allylpentamethyldisilane yields approximately equal amounts of allylpentamethyldisiloxane and 3-pentamethyldisilanylpropanal.
