The disproportionation tendencies of alkylbromoboranes are significantly different from those of the corresponding alkylchloro and alkylfluoro compounds. Alkyldibromoboranes undergo slow thermal disproportionation to boron bromide and trialkylboranes on fractional distillation while alkyldichloro- and difluoroboranes are completely resistant to disproportionation under the same conditions.
