An interesting iron‐catalyzed protocol for the synthesis of 2‐aminofurans has been developed. Starting from 2‐haloketones and tertiary amines or enamines, various 2‐aminofurans were produced in good yields.

Consecutive coupling reactions of butane-2,3-diacetal protected glycolic acid derivatives with Michael acceptors and aldehydes are reported. An enantiopure sample of this building block was used to kinetically resolve a chiral Michael acceptor present as a racemic mixture of enantiomers.
The reaction of β-fluoroalkylated α,β-unsaturated ketones with various enamines gave 4-fluoroalkylated 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrans as a major product in good yields by a one-pot operation, and these products display the high diastereoselection just after single recrystallization.
