    Copolymer-containing compositions are prepared by the reaction of an epoxytriazine-capped polyphenylene ether with another polymer containing carboxy end groups, especially a polyester. The compositions have excellent properties and find utility as molding compositions and as compatibilizers for blends of similar polymers. Suitable epoxytriazine-capped polyphenylene ethers may be prepared by reaction of a polyphenylene ether with an epoxychlorotriazine such as diglycidyl chlorocyanurate, n-butyl glycidyl chlorocyanurate or mesityl glycidyl chlorocyanurate.

    Epoxytriazine-capped polyphenylene ethers are prepared by reaction of a polyphenylene ether with an epoxychlorotriazine such as diglycidyl chlorocyanurate, n-butyl glycidyl chlorocyanurate or mesityl glycidyl chloro­cyanurate. The products undergo reaction with nucleophilic polymers such as polyamides, polyesters and functionalized polyolefins, to form copolymers which have excellent proper­ties and which find utility as molding compositions and as compatibilizers for blends of similar polymers.

    Compositions comprising polyphenylene ether copolymers are prepared by blending, preferably in the melt, a functionalized polyphenylene ether with a graft polymer, which is in turn prepared by the free radical reaction of a base polymer such as polyethylene or polypropylene with an olefinic compound containing a tertiary alkyl ester group, which may be a simple carboxylic acid or a carbamic acid ester group. The t-butyl groups are removed by thermal degradation under the reaction conditions to yield a carboxylic acid- or amino-functionalized graft polymer which reacts with the polyphenylene ether.
    聚苯醚共聚物的制备方法是将官能化聚苯醚与接枝聚合物混合(最好是熔融状态),而接枝聚合物则是由聚乙烯或聚丙烯等基础聚合物与含有叔烷基酯基(可以是简单的羧酸或氨基甲酸酯基)的烯烃化合物发生自由基反应而制备的。在反应条件下,通过热降解去除叔丁基,生成羧酸或氨基官能化接枝聚合物,与聚苯醚反应。
