The straightforward synthesis of sodium 4-toluenesulfonyloxymethyl-(H)-phosphinate and (H)-phosphinomethylisothiouronium tosylate as new reagents for the preparation of O- and S-methyl-(H)-phosphinic acid derivatives, respectively, is described.
