Even under mild conditions (temperatures below 100°, aprotic solvents), bis(trimethylsilyl)peroxide (BTSP) undergoes a variety of reactions not encountered with the element-homologous di-t-butyl peroxide. It reacts with n-BuLi, Grignard reagents (RMgX), NaAl(H)2(OCH2CH2OMe)2, and NaOEt forming Me3SiOBu + LiOSiMe3, Me3SiOR + “XMgOSiMe3”, H2 + NaAl(OSiMe3)2(OCH2CH2OMe)2, and Me3SiOEt + NaOOSiMe3, respectively
