Herein we present the synthesis and thermal stability studies of modified oligonucleotides containing an unlocked nucleicacid (UNA) terpyridine monomer. Incorporation of this monomer into both strands of a DNA duplex allowed reversible thermal stability modulation upon addition or withdrawal of divalent metal ions.
