    This invention aims to provide a dichroic dye compound with high dichroic ratio in the wavelength range of 390 to 550 nm, which can be used to produce a light-absorbing anisotropic film, as well as colored compositions, light-absorbing anisotropic films, laminates, and image display devices. The solution is a dichroic dye compound with a structure represented by the following formula (I). In formula (I), X1 and X2 each independently represent a substituent group, m and n each independently represent an integer from 0 to 2. Ar1 and Ar3 each independently represent an aromatic hydrocarbon ring or an aromatic fused ring, and Ar2 represents an aromatic fused ring in which two hetero 5-membered rings, which may have substituent groups, are fused. At least one of L1 and L2 represents any of the connecting groups selected from −CH=CH−, −CH=N−, and −N=CH−.

    Disclosed is a silver halide photographic material which comprises at least one methine dye represented by the following formula (I): wherein Y represents a furan ring or a pyrrole ring, and Y may further be condensed with other 5- or 6-membered carbocyclic ring or heterocyclic ring, or may have a substituent; the bond between two carbon atoms in which Y is condensed may be a single bond or a double bond; Z represents an atomic group necessary to form a 5- or 6-membered nitrogen-containing heterocyclic ring, and Z may further be condensed with other 5- or 6-membered carbocyclic ring or heterocyclic ring; R represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, aryl group, or heterocyclic group; D represents a group necessary to form a methine dye; L1 and L2 each represents a methine group; p represents 0 or 1; M represents a counter ion; and m represents a number of 0 or higher necessary to neutralize the charge in the molecule.

    【課題】本発明は、390〜550nmの波長領域において二色比の高い光吸収異方性膜を作製することができる二色性色素化合物、ならびに、それを用いた着色組成物、光吸収異方性膜、積層体および画像表示装置を提供することを課題とする。 【解決手段】下記式(I)で表される構造を有する二色性色素化合物。 ここで、式(I)中、X1およびX2は、それぞれ独立に置換基を表し、mおよびnは、それぞれ独立に0〜2の整数を表す。また、Ar1およびAr3は、それぞれ独立に芳香族炭化水素環または芳香族複素環を表し、Ar2は、置換基を有していてもよい2つのヘテロ5員環が縮環した芳香族複素環を表す。また、L1およびL2の少なくとも一方は、−CH=CH−、−CH=N−および−N=CH−からなる群から選択されるいずれかの連結基を表す。【選択図】なし
