A simple, efficient, and general method has been developed for the synthesis of bis-(alpha-hydroxyalkyl)phosphinic acids from hypophosphorous acid using microwave irradiation. A Novel Method for the Separation of Bis(α-hydroxyalkyl)phosphinic Acid Diastereoisomers via Formation of Novel Cyclic Phosphinic Acids
