The preparation and properties of a series of compounds Et3N·BH2X (where X H, Cl, Br, I or Ph) is reported. The i.r. and NMR spectra of this series of compounds suggest that the steric effect of the co-ordinating ligand is important in determining the freedom of rotation about the BN bond.
