reaction of dimethylmercury with fluorine gives bis(trifluoromethyl)mercury in 6.5% yield. Fluorination of tetramethylsilane has led to the isolation of the new polyfluorotetramethylsilanes of the following type, Si(CH3)x(CH2F)y(CHF2)z, x + y + z = 4.
