    This invention discloses a functional monomer, its use in a polymer, a rubbery composition, a tire, and a process to make such a rubbery composition. The functional monomer has a structural formula selected from the group consisting of: wherein the R1 groups can be the same or different and represent hydrogen atoms or alkyl groups containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, wherein R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, wherein R3 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, wherein R4 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, with the proviso that if R3 represents an alkyl group then R4 represents a hydrogen atom, and with the proviso that R4 represents an alkyl group then R3 represents a hydrogen atom, and wherein the R5 groups can be the same or different and represent alkyl groups containing from 1 to 8 carbon atoms.

    This invention discloses a process for synthesizing an amine functionalized monomer that comprises (1) reacting a secondary amine with a 2,3-dihalopropene to produce a vinyl halide containing secondary amine having a structural formula selected from the group consisting of wherein R and R′ can be the same or different and represent allyl, alkoxyl or alkyl groups containing from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, and wherein X represents a halogen atom, and wherein m represents an integer from 4 to about 10, and wherein X represents a halogen atom; and (2) reacting the vinyl halide containing secondary amine with a vinyl magnesium halide to produce the monomer having a structural formula wherein R and R′ can be the same or different and represent alkyl, allyl or alkoxyl groups containing from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, and wherein m represents an integer from about 4 to about 10.

    Process for the production of a thermoplastic polymer comprising segments of a diamide, the process comprising: 1) a first step of preparing a reaction mixture comprising a diamine H2N—Y—NH2 Form. (I), and a diester of a dicarboxylic acid Form. (II) 2) a second step of heating the reaction mixture to a temperature at least 5° C. above the crystallization temperature of the diester and a least 5° C. below the melting temperature of the formed amide (formula III) in the presence of an alkaline or earth alkaline alkoxy catalyst Form. (III) wherein X and Y are the same or different and are an aliphatic group comprising 2-12 carbon atoms or an aromatic group comprising 6-20 carbon atoms, R1 and R2 are the same or different and are an aliphatic group comprising 2-15 carbon atoms and wherein R equals R1 or R2 and are the same or different. 3) optionally a third step of quenching the catalyst of the reaction mixture obtained in the second step by adding an acid to the reaction mixture and 4) a fourth step of adding further components to the reaction mixture obtained in the second step, or if the third step has been applied to the reaction mixture obtained in the third step, and so producing the thermoplastic polymer comprising the segments of the diamide.

    The present invention relates to a process for preparing two mixtures of epoxidized fatty acid esters, comprising in the order given a transesterification of an epoxidized vegetable oil, followed by a reduction of the volatile saturated non-epoxidized fraction by short path distillation of the transesterified epoxidized vegetable oil, followed by a selection on the one hand of the non-vaporized fraction (residue) of the previous process step as the first mixture of epoxidized fatty acid esters and a selection on the other hand of the vaporized fraction (distillate) as the second mixture of epoxidized fatty acid esters. The first mixture is in particular suitable as plasticizer in halogenated polymers, the second mixture being particularly suitable as plasticizer in non-halogenated polymers.
