Catalytic isomerization of terminal olefins in liquid-crystalline polyesters at hydrosilylation with 1-(1′-arylethoxy)-1,1,3,3-tetramethyldisiloxanes

Liquid-crystalline compounds based on terephthaloyl-bis(4-oxybenzoates) with terminal double carbon-carbon bonds in aliphatic fragments were prepared. The introduction of polar and easily polarizable groups into the aliphatic fragments was shown to reduce the mesomorphic capacity. Hydrosilylation of the polyesters catalyzed by rhodium and platinum complexes was studied. The isomerization of the olefin fragment was demonstrated to be the main process.
