Both pentafluorotellurium hypochlorite, TeF5OCl, and hypofluorite, TeF5OF, react with fluoroolefins to form TeF5O- containing fluorocarbons, a new class of compounds. In the case of TeF5OF, yields of the adducts are high (60–86%) but are lower (22–30%) with TeF5OCl. In the latter case extensive chlorofluorination of the olefin occurs.
