Certain trans-6-[[(substituted)pyridin-3-yl]-alkyl- and alkenyl]tetrahydro-4-hydroxypyran-2-ones and the corresponding ring-opened acids derived therefrom are potent inhibitors of the enzyme 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMG-CoA reductase) and are useful as hypocholesterolemic and hypolipidemic agents.
Polarization labelling spectroscopy is applied to study the excited Sigma(1)Sigma(+) state of NaLi in the energy range 26 500-28 000 cm(-1) above the bottom of the ground state. The potential curve of the E state is constructed using the Inverted Perturbation Approach method. The values of T-c, omega(c) and R-c are found to be 26 474.82(4), 180.3(2) cm(-1) and 3.343(1) Angstrom, respectively. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
First observation of the 31Π and 41Π states of NaLi molecule
Two previously unknown electronic states of NaLi molecule have been observed by polarisation labelling spectroscopy in the energy region of 29900-34100 cm(-1) above the bottom of the molecular ground state potential well. The states are identified as 3(1)Pi(Na(3d) + Li(2s)) and 4(1)Pi(Na(4p) + Li(2s)). The Dunham coefficients are derived for both states and the potential energy curves constructed by the Rydberg-Klein-Rees method. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
