Bivalent tin compounds SnX2 behave in one of three ways towards platinum substrates: (a) as neutral ligands, (b) as co-ordinatively unsaturated fragments by inserting into PtâCl bonds, and (c) as reducing agents; these features are illustrated, inter alia, by X-ray data on the three title compounds.
