  The earlier unknown acetylenic silyl iodides of linear and cyclic structure form in the reaction of 2-methylimidazole and benzimidazole with bis[dimethyl(iodomethyl)silyl]ethyne. The synthesized compounds are characterized by the data of elemental analysis, (1)De, D-13, N-15, Si-29 NMR, IR, Raman and UV spectroscopy.
