One-pot synthesis of azo and sulfonated pyrimido[4,5-b]quinoline derivatives was developed by three-component reaction of azo and sulfonated aldehydes, 6-amino-1,3-dimethyluracil, and dimedone or 1,3-cyclohexadione in the presence of choline chloride/oxalic acid (ChCl/Oxa) at 80 °C. The products formed in excellent yields over appropriate reaction times under an environmentally friendly condition.
