Effect of Acidity and Additives on the Potential Oscillations during the Reduction of IO<sub>3</sub><sup>−</sup>

Unlike in alkaline solutions, totally different oscillatory behavior has been observed during the reduction of IO3− in an acidic solution, and the addition of some organic substances in the alkaline solution varies the current range where the potential oscillations occur to remarkably different extent, depending on the electric charge, length of chain, and concentration of the additive. Some explanation is given for these new observations.
