  Noncatalyzed reaction of alpha-acetyl-gamma-butyrolactones containing a polyfluoroalkyl substituent in the gamma-position with hydrazine hydrate and thiosemicarbazide in methanol leads to the formation of substituted 3-pyrazolin-5-ones that in (CD3)(2)SO solution and in the solid state exist in the NH-tautomeric form.
