  Li[N(GeMe3)2] (Me = CH3) has been isolated in high yield from the reaction of HN(GeMe3)2 with LiMe in ether. The solid compound is trimeric in benzene and crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c with a 882.0(1), b 3188.1(4), c 1237.0(2) pm and β 104.58(1)°. The unit cell consists of 4 trimeric species. The vibrational spectra (IR and Raman) are compared with those of the isotypic silyl compound
