Ta2Cl10terpy while the reaction of MX4 with 2,2′,2″-terpyridine yields the complexes MCl4terpy and M2Br8terpy (M = Nb, Ta; XCl, Br). The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis. IR spectra, conductivity studies and magnetic measurements. MCl4terpy compounds are nonelectrolyte in acetone while M2Br8terpy are 1:1 electrolytes, presumably of the type [M2Br7terpy]+[Br]−. NbCl4terpy(py)3was obtained
