    Antimony mercaptocarboxylic acid esters are provided having the formula: wherein: R is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl having from one to about eighteen carbon atoms and alkylene linked with R2 in a ring having from three to about eight carbon atoms; R2 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl having from one to about eighteen carbon atoms, phenyl, and alkylene linked with R, in a ring having from three to about eight carbon atoms; R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl having from one to three carbon atoms; R4 is selected from the group consisting of alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, alkoxycarbonyl-alkylene and acyloxyalkylene having from three to about twenty carbon atoms, the alkylene having from two to about six carbon atoms; R5 is selected from the group consisting of alkylene and cycloalkylene having from one to about eighteen carbon atoms, and such groups having from one to four hydroxyl groups; Z is a bivalent alkylene group having from one to five carbon atoms and carrying the sulfur in a position alpha or beta to -OOC-; and n is a number from 1 to 3. A process for preparing such antimony compounds is also provided, as well as predecessor intermediates, and stabilizer compositions for polyvinyl chloride resin compositions comprising such antimony compounds, if desired with other polyvinyl chloride resin stabilizers.

    1,3-Dicarbonyl compounds are provided having the formula: wherein: R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydrocarbon groups having from one to about eighteen carbon atoms and such groups substituted with one or more groups selected from the group consisting of halogen, hydroxy, alkoxy OR1, ester COOR1, alkyl and alkoxycarbonyl alkyl having from one to about eighteen carbon atoms, and R2 is selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbon having from one to about eighteen carbon atoms and such groups substituted with one or more groups selected from the group consisting of halogen, hydroxy, alkoxy OR1, ester COOR1, alkyl and alkoxycarbonyl alkyl having from one to about eighteen carbon atoms; R3 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydrocarbon groups having from one to about eighteen carbon atoms and such groups substituted with one or more groups selected from the group consisting of halogen, hydroxy, alkoxy OR1, ester COOR1, alkyl and alkoxycarbonyl alkyl having from one to about eighteen carbon atoms; as well as metal and organotin enolate salts thereof. The compounds are effective in enhancing the resistance to deterioration by heat and light of polyvinyl halide resins.

The compounds are effective in enhancing the resistance to deterioration by heat and light of polyvinyl halide resins.

    Copolymer light stabilizers are provided having at least one 2,2,6,6-tetraalkyl piperidyl group in the molecule and a molecular weight within the range from about 1000 to about 20,000, that are copolymers of a maleic or fumaric acid ester containing a 2,2,6,6-tetraalkyl piperidyl group in the alcohol group of the formula: wherein R2 is alkyl or R1; Re is lower alkyl or hydroxyalkyl; R3 is hydrogen alkaryl or alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or eopx- yalkyl; R4 is hydrogen or methyl; R5 is alkylene; Y is >CH2, >C=0, >CH-OH or R7 is alkylene; and at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of aliphatic carboxylic acid vinyl ester having from two to eight carbon atoms; alkyl vinyl ethers having from one to eighteen carbon atoms; triallyl isocyanurate; pinene; and tricyclo- (5.2.1.02.6)-decene-3; and synthetic resin compositions having improved light stability comprising per 100 parts by weight of resin from 0.001 to 5 parts by weight of the polymeric light stabilizer.
