Novel banana-shaped liquid crystals with stilbene bridges were synthesized. All presented materials exhibit the polarization-randomized non-tilted smectic phase (SmAPR) in a broad temperature range and the antiferroelectric non-tilted smectic phase (SmAPA) at room temperature.
