Owing to their chemical structure triazine herbicides can undergo N-nitrosation. In this work the formation of N-nitroso derivatives of atrazine, terbuthylazine, terbutryn, and terbumeton was evaluated. The kinetics of formation is discussed in relation to the structural features of the compounds and the ratio triazine/NO2- in amounts similar to those present in human gastric juice.
