  A simple, green and high-yielding procedure for the synthesis of 4-substituted-2-(alkylsulfanyl)thiazoles from the reaction of dithiocarbamates and α-halocarbonyl containing compounds in water is described.   The synthesis of α-dithiocarbamato-alkyl-β-naphthols is reported via the Betti reaction of naphthols, aldehydes and ammonia-based dithiocarbamates in the presence of ZnCl2 under solvent-free conditions. High to excellent yields and simple reaction conditions are the main advantages of this reaction.
