Copper palladium nitride phases, Cu3Pd(x)N with x = 0.020 and 0.989, were synthesized by the reaction of [Cu(NH3)2]NO, with [Pd(NH3)4](NO3)2 in supercritical ammonia at T = 500-degrees-C and P(NH3) almost-equal-to 6 kbar in a temperature gradient of the autoclaves used. X-ray single-crystal investigations led to the perovskite-type structure ("Pd(x)NCu3") in Pm3m with Z = 1: Cu3Pd0.020(3)N: a = 3.810(l) angstrom, R/R(W) = 0.012/0.013, Z(F0(2)) greater-than-or-equal-to 3-sigma(F0(2)) = 32, N(var) = 7 Cu3Pd0.989(5)N: a = 3.854(1) angstrom, R/R(W) = 0.016/0.018, Z(F0(2)) greater-than-or-equal-to 3-sigma(F0(2)) = 67, N(var) = 7 Cu3Pd(0.020N and CU3Pd0.989N are silver-coloured electrical conductors. The phases are metastable at room temperature and decompose at 470-degrees-C to give Cu3Pd, and N2.
