The N-bonded tetrazoline-5-thione organonickel compounds π-C5H5NiPBu3N4CSR(III) (R = C6H5, CH3 and C2H5), have been prepared from the reaction between π-C5H5NiPBu3N3 and RNCS and /or from the reaction of [π-C5H5Ni(PBu3)2]+Cl− with NaN4CSR. The compound III reacts with PBu3 to give the ionic compound [π-C5H5Ni(PBu3)2]+(N4CSR)−(IV), which reversibly dissociates to the reactants in non-polar solvents
