    名称:
Three‐body ion–molecule association rate coefficients as a function of temperature and cluster size: NO3(HNO3)n+HCl→MNO3 (HNO3)n(HCl)
    摘要:
The rate coefficients for the three-body association of NO−3(HNO3)n to HCl have been measured for n=0, 1, and 2. The rates were measured from room temperature to 153 K. The data were taken in three buffers: helium, nitrogen, and hydrogen. The magnitude of the temperature coefficients in the standard power law fits was found to increase with increasing cluster size. Significant variations were found in the different buffers. The association rate coefficient of NO−3(HNO3)(HCl) to HC1 was also measured at 153 K and found to have the same value as that for NO−3(HNO3)2 clustering to HCl. Implications for stratospheric negative ion chemistry are discussed.

Relative rate constants for the reactions of CO3-(H2O)(n), HCO3-(H2O)(n), NO3-(H2O)(n), and NO3-(HNO3)(n) with H2SO4 have been measured for n = 0-2, 0-2, 0-3, and 0-3, respectively. All rate constants have been found to occur in the ratio expected for the collisional values. This strongly indicates that the reactions proceed at the collision rate, and we assign absolute rate constants on the basis of this assumption. The present results show that all ions previously used for chemical ionization detection of H2SO4 concentrations in the atmosphere react rapidly, as has been previously assumed.
