  Abstract Two new phenanthrene alkaloids, fissicesine and fissicesine N -oxide, together with five known alkaloids, liriodenine, oxocrebanine, kuafumine, atherosperminine and atherosperminine N -oxide, have been isolated from the root bark of Fissistigma glaucescens . Their structures were elucidated by the spectral and chemical evidence.
