Abstract: Phenylphosphono(thio)dihydrazides and phosphorylated thiosemicarbazides were synthesized for anticancer testing, and some of these agents displayed chelation properties. Reactions involving methylhydrazine resulted in substitution of N 1 -protons. A study of diphenylphosphoro and phosphoramidomethylhydrazides also indicated that the N 1 -phosphorylated isomers are predominately formed.

Several methods have been investigated for the synthesis of tetraalkyl thiopyrophosphates, including one that can be carried out very rapidly with high yield. Purification of these compounds proved exceedingly difficult, because they were sensitive to traces of acids or bases, and probably to inorganic salts at temperatures above 70 °C. This invention relates to novel anthelmintic compounds containing an arylene or divalent heterocyclic ring whose free valences are satisfied by (1) a disubstituted phosphoryl ureido or thioureido group and (2) an amino group or a substituted amido or thioamido group, to compositions containing them, and to methods of using them for the treatment of intestinal parasites in mammals and birds.
A new type of Atherton-Todd reaction for a convenient pseudohalogenation of phosphites has been developed. Direct azidation, cyanation, and thiocyanation of (RO)2P(O)H (R = Et, i-Bu, Ph) were accomplished readily with sodium pseudohalides in acetonitrile under mild modified Atherton-Todd conditions. The corresponding phosphorochloridates were demonstrated by GC/MS to be the intermediates. Pseudohalogenations of ethyl phenylphosphinate and diphenylphosphine oxide were also investigated.

series of (dialkoxyphosphoryl)thioureas and their 1,3,2-oxazaphosphinane analogs containing fragments of glycine, alanine, β-alanine, L-aspartic and L-glutamicacids, as well as phosphorylureas derivedfrom glycine and β-alanine were synthesized in the search for potential biologically active compounds (including possible inhibitors of aspartate transcarbamoylase).
