Solid solutions of Pb8M2(XO4)6 lead alkali apatites

The Pb8Na2−xKx(PO4)6, Pb8Na2−xKx(AsO4)6, Pb8Na2−xRbx(PO4)6, and Pb8K2−xRbx(PO4)6 systems were studied. The compounds crystallize at all compositions in the P63m hexagonal apatite structure and form true solidsolutions. The change of the lattice parameters of the composition and of the c/a values and their relation to the ionic radii of the alkali ions are discussed.
