The invention relates to proteins based on CD29 pig protein having an amino acid sequence similar to that of CD29 native protein or a modified amino acid sequence with an identical, reduced or zero expression of epitope Gal-α-(1,3)-Gal, to nucleic acid molecules coding for said proteins and to the utilization of said proteins and nucleic acid molecules in the development of strategies to reduce or prevent hyperacute rejection associated with xenotransplant therapies.
