    The present invention is directed to water-in-oil type fuel oil emulsions which are particularly useful in firing boilers in ships, locomotives and industrial power plants. Furthermore, the invention is directed to aqueous particulate slurries dispersed in fuel oil. Specifically, the invention is directed to aqueous/oil slurries of combustible or non combustible particulate having improved burning characteristics. Of specific interest are aqueous/oil slurries of coal dust. These emulsions and slurries are achieved through the use of blend of cationic, nonionic and/or anionic surfactant compounds to which the invention is also directed.

    A method for removing color and extracting dyes from ionically dyeable polymeric materials is provided. The method includes contacting the ionically dyeable polymeric material with a swelling agent for the material under conditions sufficient to effect diffusion of the dye from the material. The process is especially useful for removing colors from ionically dyeable polymeric materials as part of a recycling process for such materials. Also, the extracted dye may be recovered for re-use as the swelling agent and contacting composition are substantially non-reactive with the dye.

    The present invention relates to a method for preparing a polyurethane resin, the polyurethane resin prepared thereby and its use, especially its use in the field of optical lenses. The preparation method comprises reacting a system comprising an isocyanate and an isocyanate-reactive compound to obtain the polyurethane resin, wherein the initial reaction temperature Tia, the peak reaction temperature Tpa and the final reaction temperature Tfa of the reaction are determined by measuring heat flows at different temperatures of the system at different heating rates and plotting heat flow-temperature curves at the different heating rates. The polyurethane resin prepared by the method provided according to the invention has the advantages of yellowing resistance as well as good mechanical properties and heat resistance, specifically good impact resistance and high glass transition temperature.

    The invention relates to a composition for producing transparent polythiourethane bodies containing or consisting of A) a polyisocyanate component containing at least one polyisocyanate with a functionality of isocyanate groups of at least 2 per molecule, B) a thiol component containing at least one polythiol with a functionality of thiol groups of at least two per molecule, in addition to optionally C) auxiliary agents and additives, the ratio of isocyanate groups to groups reactive in relation to isocyanates being 0.5:1 to 2.0:1. The composition is characterized in that the polyisocyanate of the polyisocyanate component A) is produced by a gas-phase phosgenation of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic polyamines. The invention also relates to a method for producing transparent polythiourethane bodies by the conversion of a composition of this type, to polythiourethane bodies produced in this manner and to the use of polyisocyanates, produced by a gas-phase phosgenation of aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, aromatic or araliphatic polyamines, for producing transparent polythiourethane bodies.
