The reactions of cyclic N,N'-bis-stannylated sulfur(VI) and sulfur(IV) diimides with elemental sulfur are investigated. 1lambda6,5lambda6-dithiatetrazadistannocine [tBu2SnN=S(Me2)=N]2 (1), prepared by transamination of Me2S(NH)2 with tBu2Sn(NHtBu)2, reacts with S8 via imin transfer to give the stannaheterocycles tBu2SnSNSN (3) and tBu2NSNSn(tBu2)S (4) besides Me2S. 4 is also formed in the insertion reaction of S8 with 1lambda4, 5lambda4-dithiatetrazadistannocine [tBu2SnN=S=N]2 (2), which has been synthesized for the first time by a metathetical reaction of L2(NSN) with tBu2SnCl2. The constitution of the new compounds has been established by H-1 NMR and mass spectroscopy and by cryoscopic mol weight determination.
