    A nonaqueous electrolyte which contains an ionic liquid having general formula (1) below and a melting point not higher than 50° C., a compound which reductively decomposes at a more noble potential than the ionic liquid, and a lithium salt. In formula (1), R 1 to R 4 are each independently an alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbons or an alkoxyalkyl group of the formula R′—O—(CH 2 ) n — (R′ being methyl or ethyl, and the letter n being an integer from 1 to 4), and any two from among R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 may together form a ring, with the proviso that at least one of R 1 to R 4 is an alkoxyalkyl group of the above formula. X is a nitrogen atom or a phosphorus atom, and Y is a monovalent anion.

    Secondary cells and electrical double-layer capacitors of excellent charge-discharge efficiency, stability and low-temperature properties can be obtained using nonaqueous electrolytes which contain an ionic liquid that has general formula (1) below and is liquid at not higher than 50° C. and an ion-conductive polymer. In formula (1), R 1 to R 4 are each independently an alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbons or an alkoxyalkyl group of the formula R′—O—(CH 2 ) n —(R′ being methyl or ethyl, and the letter n being an integer from 1 to 4), and any two from among R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 may together form a ring, with the proviso that at least one of R 1 to R 4 is an alkoxyalkyl group of the above formula.     Provided is a photosensitive composition which can be cured with low energy consumption, even when a substance (such as a colorant) that attenuates or shades an illumination light is contained in a high concentration or even when the photosensitive composition is in the form of a thick film. Specifically provided is a photosensitive composition which comprises the following four components: (1) a radical initiator (A); (2) an acid generator (B) or a base generator (C); (3) a polymerizable substance (D); and (4) a colorant (E), a metal oxide powder (F), or a metal powder (G). Further, the photosensitive composition is characterized in that the radical initiator (A), the acid generator (B), and/or the base generator (C) generates an active species (H) through irradiation with an active ray of light; the active species (H) reacts the radical initiator (A), the acid generator (B), or the base generator (C) to form another species (I); and thus the polymerization of the polymerizable substance (D) by means of the active species (I) proceeds, said active species (H) or (I) being an acid or a base.

    A pregel composition is added to an organic electrolyte solution of an electrolyte salt in a nonaqueous solvent for causing the solution to gel and form a polymer gel electrolyte. The pregel composition is dehydrated by azeotropic distillation and has a moisture content of not more than 1,000 ppm as determined by Karl Fischer titration. Polymer gel electrolytes prepared with such a pregel composition have a good electrochemical stability, and are thus highly suitable for use in secondary cells and electrical double-layer capacitors.
