    Disclosed are a crosslinked polyamino acid-containing particle having a core/shell structure in which the core phase is constituted of a crosslinked polyamino acid-containing particle, the shell phase is constituted of a layer having a crosslinked surface, or a coating material or resin, and a method of producing a crosslinked polyamino acid-containing particle, comprising a step of forming a shell phase by further crosslinking the surface of a particle, or applying on the surface of a particle a coating material solution, a coating material in melted condition, a resin solution or a resin in melted condition. This particle is excellent in water absorption speed, biodegradability, and water-holding ability, and useful for sanitary materials and soil improving agents.
