heated in HMPT, 1-adamantanol transformed into adamantane, whereas 2-adamantanol afforded 2-adamantyl tetramethylphosphorodiamidate. Diphenyl- and triphenyl-methyl alcohols were reduced into the corresponding hydrocarbons. Benzyl alcohol was found to give dibenzylmethylamine together with benzyldimethylamine.
