A simple and highly efficient stereoselectivetotalsynthesis of xestodecalactoneC (IIb), a polyketide natural product, was achieved (Scheme 2). The synthesis involved Keck's asymmetric allylation, a iodine‐induced electrophilic cyclization, and an intramolecular Friedel–Crafts acylation as key steps.
