(dmch)2U(BH4), (5), and [(dmpd)2U(BH4)2][K(18-crown-6)](6)(dmpd =η-2,4-dimethylpentadienyl) were prepared from the reaction of UCI4 or (η-mesitylene)U(BH4)3(1) with the corresponding potassium dienyl anions; complex (6) was alternatively obtained by treatment of (dmpd)3U (7) with KBH4 whereas protonation of (7) with (Et3NH)(BPh4) afforded the cationic derivative [(dmpd)2U][BPh4](8).
