The reaction products of U(η-C5H5)2(NEt2)2 with β-diketones depend on temperature. At low temperature (-20°C) with stoichiometric amounts of β-diketone, the compounds U(η-C5H5)2(β-diketonato)2 (II) are obtained as the major products. At higher temperature, or in the presence of an excess of β-diketone, loss of a cyclopentadienyl ligand occurs and the compounds U(η-C5H5)(β-diketonato)3 (III) are isolated
