    The crystal structure of the known YGe3 ('YGe3.5') and YGe1.9 ('YGe2') compounds and the novel Y3Ge4 compound have been studied by X-ray powder diffraction. It was found that crystal structure of YGe3 belongs to the DyGe3-type structure (a=4.0490(8) Angstrom, b=20.779(3) Angstrom, c=3.9184(8) Angstrom), YGe1.9 to the DyGe1.9-type structure (a=4.106(1) Angstrom, b=29.986(6) Angstrom, c=3.995(8) Angstrom) and Y3Ge4 to the Er3Ge4-type structure (a=4.052(1) Angstrom, b=10.649(2) Angstrom, c=14.265(3) Angstrom).     We report the discovery of a superconductor YGe3, Static magnetic susceptibility measurements show that the transition temperature T-c = 1.9-2.1 K (10-90% values). The zero resistivity temperature is attained below 2.2 K. Powder X-ray diffraction patterns indicate that this compound has the orthorhombic DyGe3-type structure with space group Cmcm. A refinement of the lattice parameters of the unit cell, determined by the method of least squares using the fifteen intense reflections for 2 theta < 60 degrees, reveals that the lattice parameters a = 4.0497(1) angstrom, b = 20.801(1) angstrom and e = 3.9174(1) angstrom for the compound YGe3.
