摘要:
The rate and equilibrium fractionation factor of oxygen isotope exchange between HCO−3 and H2O were studied at 25, 35, and 45 °C. It was found that the exchange reaction is complete in 8.8 h (5τ) at 25 °C, 2 h at 35 °C, and in less than 1 h at 45 °C. The equilibrium fractionation factor as a function of temperature fits the equation 103 ln α(HCO−3–H20) = (2.92±0.07) (106/T2)−(2.66±0.18). The CO2 produced from rapidly precipitated BaCO3, to trap the HCO−3 ions maintained in isotopic equilibrium with water at CO2 directly equilibrated with the same water at 25 °C. This provides an alternate method for determining the oxygen isotopic composition of water.
