The iron carbene cation [Fe(CO)2(η5-C5H5)CMe(OMe)}]+ reacts with reductivelyactivated [Mn(CO)3(η4-C6H6)]- to form the carbene/benzene adduct [Mn(CO)3η5-C6H6−CMe(OMe)Fe(CO)2(η5-C5H5)}] (3). Reduction of 3 is proposed to give species in which there are ferrocyclic benzene-derived ligands.
