    Reaction of anhydrous YCl3 with 1 equiv. of arylamido lithium 2,6-(Pr2C6H3NSiPr3Li)-Pr-i-Pr-i in THF gave an anionic mono-arylamido-ligated yttrium dichloride complex {[2,6-(Pr2C6H3NSiPr3)-Pr-i-Pr-i]YCl2(THF)}(2)[LiCl(THF)(2)] (1). Alkylation of 1 with 4 equiv. of LiCH2SiMe3 a. orded an anionic arylamido-ligated yttrium tris(alkyl) complex [2,6-(Pr2C6H3NSiPr3)-Pr-i-Pr-i]Y(CH2SiMe3)(3)Li(THF)(2) (2). Both complexes were characterized by NMR, elementary analysis, and X-ray structural determination. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
